The Nucleus® Nexa™ Implant
Introducing the world's first and only smart cochlear implant.
The world’s first and only smart cochlear implant
The Nucleus® Nexa™ Implant comes future-ready from the start. For the first time, your patients will be ready to access new or improved features and future innovations through upgradeable firmware in their smart implant. They will also continue to benefit from sound processor upgrades as they become available.
The smart implant memory securely stores each patient’s MAPs and can be quickly and easily copied to a new or replacement sound processor in the future.
Different on the inside
The Nucleus Nexa Implant builds on the industry-leading design of the Profile™ Series receiver stimulator. At only 3.9 mm, it is the thinnest in the world+ and has a flexible coil designed to better fit the natural shape of your patient’s head. However, it’s what’s inside the implant which makes it stand out. With a new internal chip packed with smart features, the Nucleus Nexa Implant is a step above the rest.
Smart today and for the future
Memory on the implant
As the first and only cochlear implant with internal memory, the Nucleus Nexa Implant securely stores your patients’ MAPs. You can get your patients back on air quickly with a new or replacement sound processor.
Enabled by industry leading electrode design
The Slim Modiolar Electrode is our most advanced electrode, and has been proven to support cochlea health.2-4
The world's thinnest electrode is designed for minimal insertion trauma. Its design supports consistent placement against the neural elements. This has been shown to provide significant improvements in speech outcomes, when compared to electrodes placed against the lateral wall.5-9
Supported by an award-winning surgical solution
The Nucleus SmartNav System provides wireless, real-time, actionable insights to support navigation during cochlear implant surgery. It delivers added assurance that surgery was successful, and that the electrode was properly placed.10 Data can then be directly imported into Custom Sound® Pro fitting software to support MAP creation and enable an efficient activation appointment.11
Delivering for today and tomorrow
A lifetime of hearing outcomes¥
You want every patient to experience their best hearing throughout their lifetime. Our implants and electrodes deliver a personalised hearing solution designed to deliver long-term benefits, and help your patients enjoy optimal hearing outcomes.
The standard in reliability
We understand how important implant reliability is for you and your patients. That’s why the Nucleus Nexa Implant builds on the proven track record of the Profile™ Plus and Profile™ series - giving you confidence in every choice you make.
Designed for a simpler MRI
The Nucleus Nexa Implant has been designed with MRI compatibility in mind. This means your patients can have a routine 1.5 T MRI or high definition 3 T MRI without removing the magnet.†

# The described feature and benefit are available for recipients with a Nucleus Nexa Implant only. Battery life varies for every user, according to the age of the battery, the programs used each day, your implant type, the thickness of skin covering your implant, and the size and type of battery used. Streaming from compatible devices, True Wireless devices or FM may decrease sound processor battery life depending on how often and for how long streaming is engaged. For Nucleus 8 Nexa and Kanso 3 Nexa sound processors, a full day of battery life is defined as 16 hours.
^ The Nucleus Kanso 3 Nexa Sound Processor is the world’s smallest and lightest rechargeable off-the-ear sound processor.
