Who are our volunteers?
At the heart of Cochlear are our dedicated volunteers; individuals with Cochlear hearing solutions or parents of children who use them. They bring their unique lived experiences to help others who are exploring hearing implants, offering reassurance, insights, and real-life stories of what to expect. By sharing their personal journeys, our volunteers provide support to people like yourself, helping to guide you through what can often feel like an difficult decision-making process.
Getting in touch with a volunteer
Here are a few of the volunteers we could put you in touch with.

Elizabeth, Cochlear™ Nucleus® System recipient Before receiving my cochlear implant, I felt isolated from friends and family. Now my life has changed for the better. I can hear myself breathing, birds singing, my cat meowing, my oven timer and my doorbell. Most of all, I feel reconnected with my loved ones. |
Charlotte, Cochlear Nucleus System recipient with Ambio Smart hearing aid For ten years prior to being implanted, even the most powerful hearing aids were no longer enough for me. Now, I can listen to music for the first time in 30 years, use the telephone and have even learnt a new language. I am now able to actively participate in life! |
Anoushka, Cochlear Nucleus System recipient with Ambio Smart hearing aid Before being implanted my hearing aids were not sufficient anymore and I struggled in the workplace as well as in group situations. Now I have confidence at work as well as social situations. Wearing a hearing aid on my non-implanted side has also enriched my hearing experience further. |
Kayley, Cochlear Baha® System recipient and mother of Maya, Bilateral Nucleus System recipient My daughter Maya was 16 months old when she was diagnosed with severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss. After careful consideration, we decided to go forward with cochlear implants to give her access to speech and language from an early age. Choosing Cochlear was an easy decision - as a Baha recipient myself for nearly 20 years, it felt right to extend our Cochlear family. |
Charles, Cochlear Baha System recipient Prior to having my bone conduction devices, my family would have conversations that I was not part of. I can now be involved in those conversations and enjoy meeting new people. The difference is like day and night, my only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner. It changed my world. |
Nicola, Cochlear™ Osia® System recipient After suddenly losing my hearing, I started to isolate myself from friends and family to avoid feeling embarrassed. When I had my Osia fitted it was revolutionary. Music is more pleasurable, and conversations are much easier. I have my confidence again! |
