For compatibility information, visit www.cochlear.com/compatibility.

Apple Watch

Use the Apple Watch for quick access to volume adjustments, or to change programs, select a Favourite or activate streaming from Cochlear True Wireless devices.

The Apple Watch will also display notifications such as sound processor battery warnings.

Getting started – Pairing to iPhone

To connect the app to your sound processor, first pair your sound processor to your iPhone. Please consult your iPhone instructions for pairing hearing devices, or follow the general guidance below.

Note: When you pair your sound processor to your compatible smartphone, you could also start to receive audio streaming including phone calls, music and notifications. To adjust your audio streaming settings, please refer to our FAQ section.

  1. Before you start the pairing process, make sure your sound processor has a new battery and is turned off.
  2. On your iPhone, go to Settings -> Accessibility.
  3. Turn on (or restart) your sound processor to make it discoverable for 120 seconds. When pairing to two sound processors, turn them on simultaneously.
  4. On your iPhone device, tap ‘Hearing Devices’. If Bluetooth® functionality is turned off, tap to turn it on. Your iPhone will now start searching for your sound processor. This may take some time.
  5. Tap the name of your sound processor once it appears. If you are pairing bilateral sound processors, the name will appear once, together with R + L.
  6. When the pairing window appears, accept the pairing request (or pairing requests if pairing bilateral sound processors).

Important: Do not leave the pairing screen until pairing is completed. Wait for pairing confirmation to be heard in the sound processor before proceeding. A series of six beep tones will be heard, followed by a ripple tone approximately 20 seconds later (or wait for 120 seconds to be certain that the process has been completed).

To unpair your sound processor from your iPhone, tap Settings > Accessibility> Hearing Devices. Tap the name of your sound processor, then tap ‘Forget this device’.

Getting started – Connecting the app

Download, install and open the Osia Smart App. Scroll and read through the content on the Welcome screen to learn about the different features and important information such as Terms of Use and Cochlear's Privacy Notice.

Tap ‘Confirm and Proceed’ to proceed with connecting the app to your sound processor. The app will go through a series of steps to ensure a secure connection to the sound processor can be completed. If there are any issues, instructions will be presented to you on the screen.

  • Allow the app to access your location in order to help you locate a lost sound processor and advise you when entering a linked location.
  • Allow the app to send you notifications in order to receive battery and connection warnings or tips on how to achieve the best hearing experience.

Once you have completed connection, you can log in with your Cochlear Account, or create one for free. Some features of the app require logging in to unlock. If you choose not to log in, you will still be able to adjust volume and change programs on your sound processor.

Note: If you’ve previously used a Cochlear online service, such as a different Cochlear app or our online store, you may already have a Cochlear Account and can use the same email address and password to log in to the Osia Smart App. To check whether you have a Cochlear Account or which email address is associated with it, contact your local Cochlear customer service team for assistance. Visit www.cochlear.com/customer-service.

Sound processor registration

When you have logged in, the app will check if your sound processor has been registered for Warranty purposes and for access to Cochlear online services, where applicable.

If it has not been registered, the app will prompt you to register and guide you with on-screen instructions.

To register, confirm the recipient’s name and the date the sound processor was first fitted, then select the clinic that fitted the sound processor.

Note: Ensure you select the correct clinic, as the recipient’s details will be associated to this clinic and the clinic may access this information.
