The Cochlear™ Baha® System for Children
Every child deserves to hear the world around them. Learning to communicate begins early, well before your child sounds out “ma-ma” or “da-da” for the first time.
If your child is diagnosed with conductive hearing loss, mixed hearing loss or single-sided deafness, it is important to seek treatment as early as possible. Acting now will give your child every opportunity to fulfill their hearing potential.
The power your child needs to hear the sounds they are missing.
Because your child's hearing needs are unique and may even change over time, he or she will need options for today and the future.
The Baha 5 System is the first bone conduction system to offer three head-worn sound processors, each one designed to meet a different level of hearing loss. From the smallest to the most powerful, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that Cochlear offers your child smart choices for a lifetime of better hearing.
The first step to better hearing.
The Baha Softband
The Baha Softband is designed specifically for infants and toddlers and is an ideal first step for children not yet ready for an implant (under five years of age). The Baha Sound Processor and softband provide young children with excellent hearing performance and the amplification they need to facilitate language development on par with their hearing peers.1
The Baha SoundArc
The Baha SoundArc is a new lightweight hearing device that lets your child hear like never before. The SoundArc is ideal for those who approaching the age of implantation, offering slightly older children a different wearing option. SoundArc is a great option for kids who are active since it fits securely and comfortably.
Next step- An Implant.
As your child grows, it's natural to progress from a Baha Softband to the Baha SoundArc and then finally, to an implantable solution.
With the Baha System, the implant is discreetly hidden beneath the skin. The sound processor connects either magnetically or through an abutment, once that connection is made, the Baha Bone Conduction Implant uses your child's natural ability to conduct sound through bone vibrations.
The surgery is done as an outpatient procedure usually under general anesthesia and typically lasts less than an hour. In a few days, most people are back to their normal activities.

Try it first, then decide.
With the Baha System, your child has the unique advantage of trying it first before you make any decisions. Make an appointment with your Hearing Implant Specialist today.
Hearing in the classroom. Give your child a front row seat.
Cochlear™ True Wireless™ technology built into the Baha 5 Sound Processor can offer children with hearing loss the opportunity to connect and communicate like never before. It streams audio directly to the sound processor without the need for bulky neck-worn hardware seen in other, less advanced systems. The True Wireless accessories are easy to use and can help your child hear better, even in the most challenging listening situations.
BRING YOUR CHILD CLOSER WITH THE MINI MICROPHONE 2+
In a noisy environment like the classroom, every decibel counts. Sound loses power as it travels through the air, but with the Cochlear True Wireless Mini Microphone 2+ it's as if the teacher is always standing right next to your child.
Your child's first step to better hearing.
The Baha Softband and SoundArc are designed to provide children under the age of five* with the hearing performance and amplification they need to facilitate language development on par with their hearing peers.** Both solutions are designed to provide the same benefits and hearing performance, and will work with one or two Baha 5 Sound Processors.
Cochlear™ Baha® Softband
The Baha Softband is a comfortable and easy-to-wear headband designed specifically for babies and toddlers. Unlike other headbands, the Softband uses the Baha SoftWear Pad, which reduces peak pressure to give greater comfort and increase the level of sound that transmits to your child’s ear.
Cochlear™ Baha® SoundArc
The Baha SoundArc is an alternative to the Softband that lets your child hear like never before. It has a modern look that kids will love. It’s lightweight, practical and, like a pair of sunglasses, easy to put on and take off. It fits securely and comfortably in place, so it is great for active kids.
* In the United States and Canada, the placement of a bone anchored implant is contraindicated in children below the age of five.
