The Piezo Power™ difference

The Cochlear™ Osia® System is the first active bone conduction system to use piezoelectric technology in its implant to deliver sound through bone conduction. Its unique Piezo Power™ transducer delivers clear, consistent sound4,5 and demonstrated reliability.6

The power to hear more

The Piezo Power transducer delivers enough power to address a large range of hearing losses, up to 65 dB HL in the mid to high frequency range.* This provides room if hearing loss changes over time. It also creates a wide dynamic range, which amplifies soft sounds while louder sounds remain crisp and clear.7

Tuned to the high frequencies

One of the many advantages of the Piezo Power transducer is its ability to vibrate at high frequencies.8 This means that in difficult listening situations, like a noisy restaurant or a busy classroom, your patients can better hear voices in conversation with crisp clarity.4,5

Industry-leading MRI

Expanding access to 3 Tesla MRI

Many patients will need an MRI at some point in their lives. And MRI at 3 Tesla has become a standard of care for diagnosis of many common conditions. And with the smallest artifact9-12 and no performance degradation after MRI exposure,7,13 the Osia System offers the best access to diagnostic imaging in active bone conduction.§,1-3

Access to 1.5 and 3.0 T MRI

The OSI300 Implant ensures that your patients can safely receive MRI scans at the most commonly used MRI strengths.§

No degradation from MRI exposure

There is no degradation of the implant and no impact on hearing outcomes for the patient,7 provided MRIs are conducted according to our guidelines.

Improved MRI visibility

The Piezo Power transducer contains no magnetic material, resulting in smaller image artifacts compared compared to other bone conduction systems using electromagnetic transducers.9-12

Patient comfort

Your patients can undergo MRI at both 1.5 T and 3.0 T with implant and magnet in place with no headwrap required.§ Unlike other active systems, this eliminates the need for additional surgery to access high-resolution MRI.

Demonstrated reliability

Trusted performance over time

Accelerated device lifetime testing shows that Piezo Power technology provides powerful and consistent output performance.7

The Osia implant is supported by a 10-year warranty. We publish annual reliability data for patients and professionals to make informed decisions about hearing health.

Surgical BENEFITS

Straightforward surgery

Since its introduction, the Osia implant has proven to be reliable, while providing professionals with the flexibility and confidence that help make it the world’s most chosen bone conduction implant system.±

Short surgery time16

The Osia implant has a slim profile and is fixed to a stable osseointegrated implant backed by decades of published clinical research.17

The procedure may take as little as 30 minutes16, and most people can go home the same day. There is no requirement for a preoperative CT scan, and the surgery won’t cause any loss of the remaining hearing your patients may still have left in their ears.

Minimal bone removal

The OSI300 Implant is engineered to require significantly less bone removal than other active bone conduction systems—just 57 mm³, compared to 940 mm³ and 1170 mm³ required by competitor implants.13-15 This reduces surgical complexity and preserves more of the patient’s natural anatomy, while still providing reliable surgical outcomes.6

IMPLANT ADVANTAGES

OSI300 Implant

Before, during, and after surgery, the Osia System has been designed to reduce treatment time for the patient without compromising flexibility or safety. Based on typical clinical experience, the Osia System minimises treatment time due to:

  • No pre-operative CT scan
  • Flexible implant and sound processor placement
  • Minimal mastoid drilling
  • Minimal risk for dura exposure
  • Simplified coil insertion
  • Minimal soft tissue reduction

Thinnest active bone conduction implant

The OSI300 Implant is powered by a piezoelectric transducer enabling the thinnest active bone conduction implant.2,13,18

Minimally invasive

Requiring just 57 mm³ of bone removal—far less than competing systems13-15—the OSI300 Implant supports a minimal and more tissue‑preserving surgical approach.

Recess flexibility

In bone with sufficient thickness, additional bone polishing may be performed to recess the actuator and create a lower profile placement.
