Professor Clark Wins 2015 Russ Prize
Centennial, Colo., (January 28, 2015) – Cochlear Limited (ASX: COH), the global leader in implantable hearing solutions, congratulates Professor Graeme Clark for winning the National Academy of Engineering’s 2015 Russ Prize for his pioneering work in developing the cochlear implant.
Professor Clark, at the University of Melbourne, implanted the first ever successful multichannel cochlear implant in 1978. Based on his design, hundreds of thousands of people around the world with severe to profound hearing loss can now hear.
Sharing the prize was Blake S. Wilson, Erwin Hochmair, Ingeborg J. Hochmair-Desoyer and Michael M. Merzenich for engineering cochlear implants that enable the deaf to hear. The Russ Prize will be presented in Washington, D.C., on February 24, 2015.
