Sanpiti is an 18-year-old who says his cochlear implant has been a part of his life, both physically and mentally.
Diagnosed at age two with sever hearing loss, Sanpiti first tried hearing aids, but says he struggled. His parents then learned about cochlear implants.
Since then he says he enjoyed a normal childhood. Four years ago, Sanpiti started learning Thai kick boxing.
"My cochlear implant enables me to dive into boxing itself, to experience the passion and energy."
He enjoys the sounds of competition: the yelling and cheering, the slap of the pads.
"Being able to hear, it’s really a pleasant joy to me."
