Cochlear™
Baha® Start
Because children deserve
the best start
Baha Start is a treatment option for kids with conductive hearing loss, mixed hearing loss and single-sided deafness (SSD). It’s a simple wearable hearing solution that does not require surgery, and it uses the process of bone conduction to help children hear.
Importance of early intervention
Early access to sound is proven to make a difference in helping children develop language, engage and fully experience the richness of their environment. It’s also critical to helping children learn and develop on par with their hearing peers.
Our non-surgical Cochlear™ Baha® Start solution supports both parents and their children so they can feel confident about their hearing progress.
Wearing options
Explore the options
Baha Start consists of a Baha sound processor and a wearing option – either the Baha SoundBand™ or the Baha SoundArc™ – which holds the sound processor against the head.
To meet childrens needs, both the SoundBand and SoundArc can be worn with one or two sound processors.
Baha SoundBand
The soft, comfortable SoundBand is created specifically for babies and young children.
The SoundBand comes in several colours, and the size can be changed using the adjustment slider.
Hearing their best
The first step to better hearing
Baha Start helps babies and young children experience clear, rich and natural sound.
Powering up their potential
The Baha 7 Sound Processor can help children learn from all the sounds around them—from a busy classroom to a whispered bedtime story. It uses proven sound technology that is shown to significantly improve speech recognition in both quiet and noisy environments.1,*
Everyday life
Confidence to explore and thrive
Baha Start is designed to fit into the real, playful, messy lives of children – and the busy lives of their families – to give parents peace of mind as their child learns to thrive in a world of sound.
Splash-proof and dust-proof
With the highest available water-resistance rating (IP68) in a sound processor, the Baha 7 Sound Processor is splash-proof and dust-proof, so children can do more of what they love.
Simple to use
It's easy and simple to use. Parents just place the SoundBand or SoundArc around their child’s head, turn on their sound processor, and start the day.
Extra reassurance
With a Safety Line attach the sound processor to the child’s shirt for added peace of mind during active play.

A hearing solution should make it easy for children to stay connected—whether through wireless devices to hear their teacher at the front of the classroom, or direct streaming to watch their favourite shows. That’s just what Baha Start is designed to do.
