Make a referral. Make a difference.

By referring your patients for a cochlear implant evaluation, you can open the door to a world of sound they may have thought was lost forever. As hearing loss progresses, patients can struggle with clarity of speech despite appropriate, well-fit hearing aids. Refer your patients for a cochlear implant evaluation to explore this life-changing option and see how cochlear implants can help them reconnect with the world around them.

Is your patient struggling to hear with well-fit hearing aids? Does your patient experience any of the following:
Struggles to hear on the phone
Has difficulty understanding others
Withdraws from social events
Often needs others to repeat themselves
If yes, consider a cochlear implant referral.

When to refer your patients

When to refer your patients

The 60/60 referral guidelines provide guidance for when to recommend a cochlear implant evaluation. Patients with hearing losses greater than or equal to 60 dB HL (pure tone average 0.5, 1k, 2kHz) and speech understanding less than or equal to 60%, should be considered for a referral for a cochlear implant evaluation. The evaluation appointment helps patients understand more about their hearing loss, hearing aid performance, and options available. The decision of what they want to do is always up to the patient.
