Introducing Cochlear™ Baha® SoundArc
Sound Connection | Issue 29 | March 2018
The first hearing experience of the Cochlear™ Baha® System for candidates is one of the most significant factors influencing the decision to get a Baha System. Despite the progress in Baha sound processors technology, demo technology has lagged behind, with only the headband, testband, and Softband on offer. These work well, but they are not always appealing, discreet, easy to use or comfortable, and many people prefer not to wear them outside in real life listening environments.
The Baha SoundArc is a comfortable, stylish and effective non-surgical bone conduction device that works in conjunction with the Baha 5 Sound Processors. It is indicated for patients with conductive hearing loss, mixed hearing loss and single-sided sensorineural deafness. It can be used in a demo counselling situation and as an alternative to the Baha Softband. The sleek, modern appearance is discreet and practical – easy to wear at home, work, school or when socialising.
Since the launch of SoundArc in EMEA in September 2017, professionals welcomed it as part of best practice in demonstrating the benefits of Baha 5 System. It has been particularly well received by hearing aid acousticians where Baha is dispensed by in many countries in Europe. They reported that due to its stylish design and ease of fitting, they are more likely to recommend Baha Sound Processors.
Candidates found SoundArc to be more comfortable, more discreet, and easier to use than the Softband while providing equivalent hearing performance. They also reported significantly improved confidence to wear SoundArc in public places such as restaurants, work and school.1 When they experience a more positive Baha trial in real listening environments, candidates are more likely to appreciate the personal benefits of Baha and progress in their hearing journey to choose surgery. This is particularly important for convincing candidates who currently reject Baha as a solution and candidates who are considering non-surgical Baha as a longer term solution. And now with the SoundArc colour kit, recipients can add some colours into their lives with Baha!
Baha SoundArc is part of the demo and non-surgical portfolio, sitting alongside the Softband in the Baha 5 System. Being stylish aesthetic and comfortable, it plays a crucial role of providing an optimal Baha trial experience and nurturing candidtates in the early stage of their hearing journey.
