Cochlear recipient Stefan

The Cochlear™ Carina® system offers a hearing solution for people who cannot wear hearing aids or are unsatisfied with their results.

The first step in determining whether someone can benefit from a Carina System is an audiological evaluation.

A person may be a candidate if he or she is suffering from a moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss or mixed hearing loss.

Adults and children

You can generally consider Carina implants for people who:

  • Have moderate-to-profound sensorineural or mixed hearing loss in one or both ears.

  • Cannot wear or do not get sufficient benefit from hearing aids or a Baha® system.

  • Have no medical contraindications.

The Carina implant is suitable for children aged 14 and over. There is no upper age limit for Carina implantation.
