Series of 4 courses:
Child and Family Habilitation, Cochlear Technology, Coaching and Guiding in Clinical Practice, Rehabilitation for Adults and Teenagers
This series of courses covers four topics:
- Course 1: Child and Family Habilitation. This course will focus on working with families of children both pre- and post-implantation. Topics will include parent-child conversations, story-telling, binaural listening, bilingualism and assessment including diagnostic habilitation.
- Course 2: Cochlear Technology. The core technical knowledge of Cochlear‘s implant systems will be covered, including the technical background for professionals involved in (re)habilitation and education as well as the practical skills which will be helpful in education, (re)habilitation, home visits and out-reach programmes.
- Course 3: Coaching & Guiding in Clinical Practice. This course will focus on practical coaching and guiding techniques for use in recipient and family sessions to help improve outcomes. Methods will be explored in-depth and practical tools and approaches will be shared that can be used pre and post-implant. The use of data logging in rehabilitation and counselling will be included.
- Course 4: Rehabilitation for Adults and Teenagers. This course will provide theoretical and practical training on aural rehabilitation (using the Cochlear Adult Aural Rehabilitation resources and other materials for teenagers and adults including those with memory issues), psychosocial rehabilitation and music therapy. Approaches to individual and group therapy will be discussed in detail.
The programme will be a mixture of presentations, demonstrations and practical sessions.

Who should attend: Professionals such as teachers of the deaf, speech and language therapists, hearing therapists, psychologists and habilitationists, who work with adult and/or child recipients in areas other than programming.
