Prince Philippe of Belgium visits Cochlear

His Royal Highness Prince Philippe of Belgium visited Cochlear Limited today as head of a Belgian trade delegation to Australia.

Visiting a number of leading Australian companies to promote closer business ties between the two countries, the delegation visited Cochlear because of its industry leadership and its existing relationships with Belgium. The company sells hearing products into Belgium and has a key research facility, the Cochlear Technology Centre, in Mechelen, Belgium.

Also during the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Cochlear and the Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium, to acknowledge the intent to work closer together on research into new hearing technologies.

Prince Philippe was joined by His Excellency Pieter De Crem, Belgian Minister of Defence, His Excellency Jean-Claude Marcourt, Belgian Minister of the Economy and Foreign Affairs, and Frank Carruet, the Belgian Ambassador to Australia. In addition, the delegation comprised a range of senior Belgian business leaders and government officials.
