Tips for using the telephone with my Kanso Sound Processor

Answers to some common questions about using the phone with my Kanso Sound Processor.

  • How can I get the best results from my phone use?

For the best possible hearing performance we recommend you use the Cochlear™ Wireless Phone Clip with your Kanso. This lets you stream phone calls direct from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone to your sound processor for hassle-free, hands-free hearing. Telecoil is not recommended for phone use with the Kanso

If you are not using a phone clip, practise ahead of time to become familiar with how to position the phone so that the microphone of the Kanso aligns with the phone’s speaker. Some tips on how to find the ‘sweet spot’ are:

    • Call a friend to help you practise.
    • When they are talking align the microphone on the Kanso to the speaker on the phone.
    • Practise finding the loudest and clearest location.

Once you find the sweet spot, determine how far it is from the ear by placing a finger on your head. Do this a few times before talking or making phone calls to ensure it is done with confidence.

  • What should I look for when choosing a phone?

All recipients have a personal preference, and what works for one may not necessarily work for another. If possible, try different models before making a selection.

Some features you might want to look for when purchasing a new phone include:

    • Bluetooth
    • volume control
    • caller ID
    • a high-quality speaker phone.
