Getting Baha®

Getting a Baha® System is a simple procedure. The entire process from consultation to a fully functioning Baha can take as little as a few weeks.

Follow the steps above, or read below:

1. Evaluation
Contact a hearing care professional to arrange a consultation and they will let you know if you are a candidate for a Baha solution.

2. Test
With the Baha solution you can experience the difference before making the decision to get one.

3. Implantation
Once you decide to get Baha, you will need to undergo a straightforward surgical procedure. A Baha titanium implant with an abutment will be inserted behind your ear. This is a relatively minor procedure which is often performed in an outpatient facility with local or general anaesthesia..

4. Healing
After the surgery, a dressing is placed over the implant area. This is removed after approximately 10-14 days when the area has healed. Over time, your bone will bond (osseointegrate) with the titanium implant.

5. Fitting
When your implant is sufficiently stable, a Baha sound processor can be fitted. Your hearing care professional adjusts the sound settings to maximise your hearing performance. As time goes by and you learn more about the way you want to hear with Baha, your hearing care professional can fine tune your sound processor even further to meet your hearing needs.

6. Aftercare
Caring for your Baha implant is easy and need not take more than a few minutes a day. The area around your implant should be kept clean. For more information, go to our support section.
