As a parent, you know your baby or child better than anyone. If you are worried that they may have a hearing problem, there are people and treatments you can turn to for help.

The earlier your child is tested, diagnosed and treated for any hearing loss, the greater their chance to develop normal speech and learning skills, communicate with their teachers and classmates, make new friends, and grow up feeling confident and safe in a world of sound.
Ideally, newborn babies should be screened for hearing loss before they leave hospital. But even if these tests show no problems, many things can affect hearing as they get older.
You should have your child’s hearing tested 2-3 times a year during the first few years of their life and once a year during school years.
If you have any questions about your child's ability to hear, arrange to have your child's hearing tested.
