Connect with people who understand
We heard you. Whether you’re an adult facing the fact that your hearing aids are no longer enough, or a parent wondering what life will be like for your child, the journey to better hearing can be an emotional time full of uncertainty, fear and sometimes loneliness.
You don’t have to walk this journey alone. Click on the button below to find a range of cochlear implant and Baha users who can coach you through the process of deciding and getting an implantable hearing solution. This free service is open to anyone and made possible through the Cochlear Awareness Network.
What is the Cochlear Awareness Network?
The Cochlear Awareness Network (CAN) consists of parents whose child hears with a cochlear implant or Baha, and adults who use the technology themselves. They give their time on a voluntary basis to help others through the journey to better hearing.
Because CAN volunteers have been through the hearing journey themselves, they understand first hand the emotional ups and downs you may be facing and can help by sharing their experiences and offering support.
By contacting a CAN volunteer, you can:
- Gain a user’s perspective of what living with a cochlear implant or Baha is like
- Ask questions you may not feel comfortable in asking a hearing health professional
- Get answers to questions you feel only a recipient or parent would have a true appreciation of
- Understand the life changing benefits that a cochlear implant or Baha could bring to your child, yourself and your family
- Have support and mentoring before, during and after getting a cochlear implant or Baha.
